8 uncommon tips for clearing your Salesforce Admin Exam

The Salesforce Admin exam is a famously challenging one. I personally failed for the first time, succeeded for the second.🤷‍♀️

I hope the below tips will help some of you to get through it easier!

1. LET THE KNOWLEDGE SINK IN

– After spending substantial time studying, you might feel super-overwhelmed.

– But knowledge needs time and repetition to stick properly.

– Allow your brain to process all the information with time.

– Trust the process, let the pieces fall into place.

2. LOOK FOR DIVERSE FORMS OF EDUCATIONAL CONTENT

– Everyone’s brain works differently. The same study materials might not resonate the same way for all.

– If you are done with the trails, look for videos. If you did a course, do some practice tests. Read the documentation, then listen to podcasts, or look for infographics.

– The more format types, the easier it will click (most likely).

3. ZOOM IN, BUT DON’T FORGET TO ZOOM OUT TOO

– Basically don’t get lost in the details.

– To master Salesforce, you gotta be able to navigate it on a system level as well as on the configurational level.

– So I studied a module e.g. Record Types, and then I looked for a tutorial which explained how it is actually used in real life, in context, through examples. This way I truly got it.

4. NOT A NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER? ASK FOR EXTRA TIME

– Salesforce and the exam questions are challenging to understand even for someone whose mother tongue is English.

– So they grant extra 30 mins exam time for those, who are not native English speakers.

– Apply for it via Trailhead before registering for the exam.

5. ONLINE OR ONSITE PROCTORED EXAM?

– It is your personal preference. I did both, and the onsite one worked better for me.

– No stress with tech or room setup, which can be tricky at home.

– You get a pen and a paper, which you cannot use at home.

– This way I could focus better on the questions.

6. KEEP YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE

– Deadlines help you push yourself.

– Be consistent and a bit strict with yourself here.

– Have a day in mind for your exam.

– Book 1-2 weeks ahead. At that point you already see if you will be ready or not.

7. KEEP YOUR MOTIVATION UP

– It is a ‘volatile’ journey. It is easy to lose momentum.

– Build your network, read about success stories, listen to podcasts to hear about the potentials in this career.

– Learn about what growth potential Salesforce holds.

– Join the community, talk to people who are at a similar stage in their journeys.

– It does the trick.

8. FAILURE IS ALSO IN YOUR FAVOUR

– Maybe you won’t pass for the first attempt. Never mind. Most people don’t.

– By studying it again, you will understand the entire system better.

– You will become a more polished Salesforce professional, ready for entering the market! And let’s not forget, that is the goal, right?

Good luck!
